In 2006, Rajesh Regmi met Anneli-Sofia Raecker from Germany, who shares his deep desire to help the very poor in Nepal. After returning from her trip to Nepal that same year, she founded the non-profit organization KETAAKETI, with the objective of supporting underprivileged children, women, and their families through a variety of projects. These range from free schools and health camps to micro-finance initiatives, while promoting and maintaining the dignity and trust of those affected. The main goal is to provide primary school education to the poorest children in Nepal and sustain and stabilize this education by offering micro-finance support to the students’ parents.
Thanks to her continuous and dedicated efforts in promoting the innovative idea of an equal partnership between KETAAKETI and SPOWC, as well as raising funds and acquiring new supporters, the growth of the KETAAKETI-SPOWC collaboration has been possible. The ongoing cooperation, which involves a continuous exchange of ideas, is what makes this alliance so special. Unlike the traditional "beggar-giver" dynamic often seen in other organizations, where representatives of the ‘poor’ country and the ‘rich’ country interact in a hierarchical manner, KETAAKETI and SPOWC pursue the ideal of a truly equal partnership. This approach is built on mutual respect, appreciation, transparency, and the autonomy of decision-making.
Our partnership has become the cornerstone of a development model that fosters equality between rich and poor countries, one in which the poorest nations are consistently supported with respect as they work toward a better future based on self-determination and dignity.Anneli-Sophie Raecker
Since 2007, SPOWC and KETAAKETI have been working closely together to improve the current and future lives of the very poor in Nepal. By providing initial help through education and micro-finance programs, the goal is to empower individuals to help themselves, rather than creating a relationship of dependency with the supporting organizations.
